Like craigslist, this is a site where our Kinderwelt community can share our own job listings, housing, goods and services that we might want or need.  This could be a good place for those of us looking for work or new contacts to "network" and basically help one another out - as well as our children and grandchildren.  Let's give it a try!

I can polish resumes and write cover letters. I have P.R., marketing and writing experience and I write business articles.  I just edited a business book that McGraw Hill published.  It is in its third printing and still selling after almost two years.  I wrote two chapters in it, as well.

Dear Friends,

Diaper Recipient Aubree

Five years ago my wife Caroline co-founded LA Diaper Drive, an all-volunteer charity that provides diapers to low-income families in the Los Angeles area.

I am very proud of all the hard work and dedication that my wife has put into this local charity and hope that you will help to support it.

The diapers not only relieve financial pressure from the parents, they are used as incentive to take parenting, life skills, GED prep, or other valuable classes that improve lives and promote safe and healthy families.

They started with a goal of giving away one million diapers and, thanks to generous donations, reached that goal in 2009. Even more exciting is that they are on target to give away their second million diapers in 2010 alone!

Mother's Day is May 9th and I am asking you to make a difference in the lives of low-income mothers in Los Angeles by making a tax-deductible donation to LA Diaper Drive. LA Diaper Drive is able to purchase diapers at an extreme discount, so just $120 will provide diapers for one baby for almost a year. If you can afford more, great; if you can afford less, we'll take what you can give. Every dollar counts.

For more information please click on the links to the left to check out their website and a video on where your money is going. Thank you in advance for your support.

"Hi, my name is Barbara and I am the mother of 4 kids, 2 of which are still in diapers. Jamara is 22 months and Joel is 8 months. I have been here at the mission for 4 months. I'm now working and have to play catch up with old bills and new ones. I would like to thank you for your diaper donation-it couldn't have come at a better time. As a single mother being unable to buy diapers during times, I feel very happy and grateful to be relieved of diaper expenses for the month."

Courageous Followership recognizes that to be effective at almost every level of an organization, individuals need to play both the leader and follower role adeptly.

The Courageous Follower offers a new model for the follower role that provides dynamic support for leaders but does not hesitate to constructively speak truth to power. It also offers a model of Courageous Leadership that creates the conditions in which it is easier for followers to speak the truth as they see it and for leaders to give appropriate consideration to what they are being told. It offers a developmental path to true partnership between leaders and followers in the service of the organization’s mission.

The Courageous Follower: Standing Up To and For
Our Leaders – 3rd Edition

The concept of “courageous followership” is based on the award-winning book:
The Courageous Follower: Standing Up To and For Our Leaders
, written by Ira Chaleff and published by Berrett-Koehler. The book is a landmark in the newly emerging field of Leader/Follower studies.

The Art of Followership: How Great Followers Create
Great Leaders and Organizations

The Art of Followership, co-edited by Ronald E. Riggio, Ira Chaleff, and Jean Lipman-Blumen, with a foreword by James MacGregor Burns, is published by Jossey-Bass (an imprint of Wiley) as part of its Warren Bennis series of books. Warren Bennis himself wrote the introduction.

This collection of essays puts dynamic leader-follower interaction at the forefront of the  discussion and examines the multiple roles followers play and their often complex relationship to leaders. Leading scholars and practitioners from the burgeoning field of leadership/followership studies have contributed to this groundbreaking book which outlines how followers contribute to effective leadership and to organizations overall.

My wife, Fradle, has published a new book that includes Yiddish camping and Kinderwelt.

The book is "Passionate Pioneers - The Story of Yiddish Secular Education in North America, 1910-1960" and is being published by Holmes & Meier.

I've included some information about the book here. I think it will be of interest to the many graduates of Kinderwelt and of the Farband and other Yiddish secular school networks. I hope you can let people know about the book on the Kinderwelt list.

Thanks and best regards,

-Barry Freidenreich
